Activities around the Lodge


To really appreciate and enjoy all that nature has allowed us to offer you, the following must be included on your packing list: Hiking or walking shoes, river sandals, hat, swimwear, sun screen, insect repellent, sweaters, poncho, binoculars, camera and film. The days are warm and the nights cool, so bring a light jacket.

Activities at the lodge include swimming, horse back riding though the rain forest, stargazing, birdwatching, nature trails.

Five Sisters Lodge & Tours

The Five Sisters Lodge ensures easy access to our gorgeous waterfalls by means of Belize's only hydro-powered rain forest tram! As you decend further down into the rain forest you will see the Five waterfalls, which give the Lodge its name.

Once you have arrived at the pools, the fun begins! You can swim and relax in crystal natural pools just a stone's throw away from your cabanas, or you might choose to soak up the sun on our tiny island, The Garden of Eden. At the falls, you will also see a wild display of colorful flowers - over four hundred and fifty species of orchids, palmettos, bromeliads and other exotic plants.

Nature Trails:

You cannot miss our very special guided tour into our own medicinal nature trail, where you will view and learn about over 76 different species of medicinal plants and trees. An interesting experience for those interested in alternative medicine.

9 Per Cent Sales Tax is added to the Tour rates. Tours include: guide, lunch and entrance fees. Itineraries are subject to change due to weather or road conditions which are beyond our control.

Caracol Tour:

An early departure takes you to the newly excavated ancient Mayan metropolis of Caracol, located deep in the Chiquibul Rainforest. Caracol, in the 7th century A.D. had actually conquered the city of Tikal, Guatemala. After visting these majestic ruins, your next stop will be the famous Rio Frio Cave, where stalactites and stalagmites form an eeire backdrop to an ancient Mayan worship place. Finally, swim in the cooling crystalline waters of the Rio On pools, whose waterfalls cascade over granite boulders.

Mountain Pine Ridge Tour:

The Mountain Pine Ridge is the largest National Park in Belize, and has the oldest land surface in Central America. The Park boasts numerous waterfalls, caves and an abundance of wildlife. You will vist the famous Hidden Valley Falls (the picturesque 1,000-foot waterfall) that is nestled in the lush green tropical forest. Next stop is the famous Rio Frio Cave, and finally, the icey-cool waters of the Rio On Pools.

Macal River & Archaeological Tour:

Canoe down the Macal River, observing many species of birds, bromeliads, orchids and the green iguana. Your next stop is the Mayan Site of Xunantunich, where you will admire breath-taking vistas atop the temple of "El Castillo." Enjoy a mouth-watering Belizean lunch at Clarissa Falls along the banks of the Mopan river. Optional, you can visit the Garcia Sister's Craft Shop. On the way back to the Lodge, you will visit the Green Hills Tropical Butterfly farm.

Price: US $80 pp (3-4 Persons), US $100.00 pp (1-2 Persons)

San Ignacio Tour:

Tour the Mayan sites of Xunantunich and Cahal Pech. Enjoy a tasty Belizean lunch, and then spend some time shopping in the scenic riverside town of San Ignacio. On your way back to the Lodge, you will visit the Green Hills Tropical Butterfly Farm.

Price: US $70.00 pp (3-4 Persons), US $85.00 pp (1-2 Persons)

Barton Creek Cave Tour:

The Barton Creek Cave Tour takes you back in time as you drift through the mysterious darkness in a canoe.

Your guide will row you deep inside Barton Creek Cave (about 1 or 2 miles depending on water levels). Sit back, relax and direct your 1,000 candle lamp at the amazing formations inside the huge cave believed by the Maya to be the Underworld, "Xibalba", (pronounced SheeBALba) the Kingdom of their Gods. Float under stalagtites, see ancient skeletons and pottery remains that date back 2,000 year and prepare to be awstruck by cathedral-like caverns.

Marvel at the 5 million year old crystalline structures over 50 feet in length as your knowledgable guide explains the Maya's beliefs about the underworld. The Barton Creek Cave is one of the most beautiful and interesting caves in Belize.

A point of interest is that on your way to the cave, you will drive through the Amish Community of Upper Barton Creek. Then head out to visit the Green Hills Butterfly Farm and view about 25 species of tropical butterflies including the Blue Morpho.

Jungle Horseback Tour:

Horseback riding through the rainforest.

Visit Maya Plazas and ceremonial centers, hidden in the lush jungle; swim in a crystal mountain brook.

Your last stop will be the roaring Big Rock Falls, where water comes gushing down the solid granite rockface.

Here, you can enjoy the breath-taking falls and surrounding jungle, while taking a refreshing dip - or an adventurous dive!

Tikal Day Tour

An early departure takes you to one of the most famous Maya sites in Central America - the ruins of Tikal in Guatemala.

Tikal is one of the most popular natural history destinations in the world. On your way back, you will stop at the border town of Melchor de Mencos for gift shopping.
