Five Sisters Falls and Eco Lodge
Mountain Pine Ridge, Belize
|The Five Sisters Lodge is located in the scenic Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. This is the largest protected area in Belize, boasting an immense Rain Forest and natural Wildlife Sanctuary.
With wonderful vistas of the falls, and over the surrounding hills, Five Sisters Lodge invites you to sit back, relax, and be lured into tranquillity by the sound of the cascading water.
The Five Sisters Lodge obtained it's name from the five perfectly gushing waterfalls and the numerous crystal pools that form part of this natural wonder.
These waterfalls empty into the famous Privassion River, which meanders through the heart of the Forest Reserve.
The sparkling, clear water of the river, the shimmering spray of the falls and the contrasting green of the forest are accentuated by a wild display of colorful flowers of over four hundred and fifty species of orchids, palmettos and other exotic plants.
The continuous flowering of these plants throughout the year produces nature's own kaleidoscope of brilliant colours and the crisp air is always heavy with a fragrant, exciting aroma.
Belizean born Carlos Popper's dream was to create an eco-tourism facility that he could share with the rest of the world. Inspired by the natural beauty of his property, he set of to design his lodge with one clear objective: to provide sustainable architecture in harmony with the natural world that surrounds us. This he has accomplished with excellence.
Being situated on ten acres of privately titled land in the midst of the national reserve, you can truly get away from it all here. The lodge is about a one-hour drive from San Ignacio, on the Caracol road, just a few miles beyond the gate at the reserve's entrance.
The location is ideal for anyone interested in exploring the region, including Caracol, Belize's largest Maya ruin, only a 1-1/2 hour drive from the lodge.
The lodge, consists of 14 cabanas of varied size, each opening onto screened verandas with wonderful views, and a hammock.
All cabanas are well screened, and mosquito netting is provided over the beds, although it isn't really necessary.
The attractive, sparkling clean rooms have hardwood floors and locally crafted furnishings.
|The Lodge has a unique, wood-burning boiler system to heat its water. The showers are not necessarily hot, but warm enough to be comfortable. The Central Building houses the bar, restaurant and lounge area. Rich, tropical vegetation surrounds the lodge. The deck around this building permits you to enjoy your drinks and meals while taking in the pristine beauty of your surroundings. The kitchen serves plenty of tasty, local cuisine, and homemade bread.
|Weddings in Paradise
A popular feature at Five Sisters Lodge is the Wedding Chapel Pagoda located beside the falls.
The happy Bride and Groom can take the Hydro-powered lift from the Lodge down to the falls to say "I Do", making for a unique and unrivalled wedding location.
The Belize Tourist Board's Wedding Brochure recommends the Lodge as one of the best locations for a Rainforest Wedding in Belize.
