High above the jungle while resting comfortably at the Lodge, one can look east and see Honduras and Guatemala across the Caribbean Sea or turn westward to the majestic Maya Mountains of Belize. The main lodge is positioned at the summit of "Big Hill" for which the original farm was named. It features a reception area, restaurant, bar, reading room, fly shop, gift shop, conference room and sprawling verandas on 2 levels. |
The panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and Rainforest canopy are awe-inspiring. It is the perfect place to enjoy fish tales and stories of adventure while sipping fresh fruit drinks at our mountain-top bar and restaurant. ceramic tile, luggage storage and rod holders.
All areas of the hotel have potable water at every tap! Your cabana is equipped with all the amenities including air-conditioning. However, the cool river valley evenings and ceiling fans will keep you comfortable most of the year. Each cabana comes with its own private veranda overlooking the brilliant vistas of vast jungle reserves and the wildlife corridor. |
The Large Arbor Restaurant located in the main lodge offers a balanced mixture of fresh, local seafood and Continental cuisine. In the El Pescador tradition management will host family style dinner. The art of conversation can be practiced with stories of the day's adventures or of those to come. Sprawling verandas on all levels offer panoramic sites of the Maya Mountains, Caribbean Sea and the Rio Grande. |
On the second floor or ground level our Lounge is waiting with a refreshing beverage, game of cribbage or billiards match. Our Fly and Tackle shop also resides on this level where you may supplement your gear and find those secret flies that work well in our fishery. El Pescador PG is host to the World's most diverse fishery for light tackle angling in both salt and fresh water. |
Whether Fly or Spin fishing is your game, the availability of permit, tarpon, snook and bonefish make Southern Belize one of few locations in the world that offers a legitimate GRAND SLAM opportunity all 12 months of the year. In addition to the big-4, El Pescador PG offers an opportunity for several additional saltwater species including barracuda, jack cravelle, lady fish, and snapper. |
El Pescador PG offers a host of on-site activities for days when you choose to give the fishery a day off. We are happy to tailor numerous activities to suit your interests and needs. These non-angling options include canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, birding, fishing, swimming in either our fresh water pool or in the river. |
You are also welcome to visit our farm which utilizes both modern and Maya farming techniques. The farm, staffed by local Maya provides for the lodge and for the community. The farm features a variety of fruit trees, vegetables, herbs and 17 cut flower blocks that have 45 species of tropical haliconias & ginger. You may also wish to enjoy one of our day tours to local villages, archeological and natural history sites. With the Caribbean Sea right at our doorstep, snorkeling can easily be arranged as well. Please see the Other Adventures section for a more detailed description of our non-angling activities. If too much activity builds up, relax by the pool or sit under a palapa and read a book. You've got 470 acres of private reserve to find your spot in our tropical paradise. |
