Located approximately 25 miles due south of Belize City, the colonial style buildings of the Lodge are at the tip of a two and a half mile long peninsula running north into the Southern Lagoon. |

Scattered along this narrow finger of land is the Creole Village of Gales Point. Manatee Lodge is one of the few places in Belize where one can watch spectacular sunsets over both water and mountains! The Southern Lagoon is surrounded by varying eco-systems- thick mangroves, open savanna grasslands, heavy jungle, rivers and creeks, and the Caribbean Sea and shore-
each offering a unique experience on wildlife, terrain and vegetation.

Manatee Lodge invites its guests to relax, enjoy the easterly breezes, and to savor our delicious food.
Tasty meals are prepared and served in the unique octagonal dining room.
Menus include North American dishes as well as favorite Belizean foods. There are lots of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as seafood, much of it caught by the local villagers. |

Accommodations are eight spacious rooms situated on the property to capture the soft winds of the Caribbean.
The accommodations are up-scale though reasonably priced.
Each room has a private bath complete with hot water and 24 hour electricity. |

An enjoyable part of the day is gathering on the large veranda or in the Great Room to watch the sunset over the Maya Mountains and to recount the day's adventures. Available for the use of the guests are canoes in which individual tours can to made around the Lagoon to explore the many fascinating areas.

Guests can just relax in the hammocks or participate in guided tours by water or land.
Transportation to Manatee Lodge can be arranged through our reservation office. Reaching Manatee Lodge is by road from either Belize City (approximately 1 1/2 hours ride), or from Dangriga (approximately 45 minutes ride). If coming from Dangriga, flying to Dangriga from Belize city is only about 20 minutes. The really scenic route is by water from Belize City through the Northern and Southern Lagoons. Each route varies in cost, please inquire. |
