Day 5 - Placencia - The Perfect Paradise!
After breakfast you will transfer by road down the most scenic road in Belize, The Hummingbird Highway, past the citrus plantations of the Stann
Creek Valley, to the beach paradise of Placencia.
Stay at the luxurious Inn at Robert's Grove
on the edge of the Caribbean. Sixteen miles of natural sandy beach, a wilderness of coral-studded cayes,
a virgin mangrove-fringed lagoon, nearby jungle rivers, pristine
rainforest, Garifuna, Creole and Mayan cultures, and ancient Mayan ruins
makes Placencia the ideal location for the adventurous traveler.
Southern Belize is still relatively undeveloped, making it a paradise for
the nature lover. Snorkel and dive the uncrowded, pristine reef, fish the
rivers and flats, kayak the mangroves in the lovely
lagoon, hike the Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve, or just grab a hammock and relax
on the beach!
Meals are not included giving you the freedom to try out the many Placencia Restaurants.
ESSENCE OF PARADISE: During your stay we have arrranged for you to take a fascinating Monkey River Tour. To the south
of Inn at Robert's Grove lies Monkey River, a birdwatcher's paradise up a tropical river. Much of Monkey River has been declared a Special
Conservation Area, with howler monkeys and toucans in the forest, and manatee at the mouth of the river. As the
boat winds its way up the jungle river you will find yourself surrounded by dense, unspoiled rainforest habitat, with its tall canopy
reaching up to the clear morning sky...this is the Monkey River... a rainforest paradise. You'll be able to hike over newly cut trails in the
rainforest and get a close-up view of the many animals that call this fascinating river home.
Lunch at a local restaurant in Monkey River Town is an extra treat. Lunch and park entrance fees are not included.
