Ocean's Edge Lodge is 12 miles off the coast of Southern Belize and is reached in about 35 minutes by boat. The Lodge offers simple and rustic Belizean-style island accommodation. Every direction you look is a sea view on this palm-fringed coral island. Tobacco Caye (pronounced Tobacco 'key') is an attractive, privately owned, 5 acre palm-fringed island with excellent beaches and surrounded by dazzling, turquoise waters due to the shallow reef along the island's eastern and southern shore. Reached by boat from Dangriga in about 35 minutes the accommodations are two-storey individual cabanas. There are 4 upstairs rooms suitable for couples and three of the cabanas have lower units which accommodate 3 or 4 people. Each room has its own shower and toilet. Electricity is generated by solar power and generators so if you are looking for peace and quiet, no TV, no Traffic, just natural surroundings, this is it. A cook will prepare three delicious meals every day including fresh seafood, fresh fruit and home baking, served family-style Ocean's Edge Lodge


Tobacco Caye is part of the Southwater Caye Marine Reserve which has been designated a World Heritage Site.

Nestled within sight of several mangrove atolls, this tiny island is strategically positioned right on top of the Belize Barrier Reef which makes for excellent snorkelling offshore and many superb scuba diving sites are within a short boat ride. Tobacco Caye was first settled by English Puritans who named the island after the first crop they planted here around 1640 although the islands of Belize were useful hideouts in bygone days for pirates and buccaneers.
