Two beautiful countries,
many different cultures. Marvel at the acheivements of mankind and also the
indigenous people who choose the "simple life". Why do some build temples, palaces and
canals whilst others prefer to live a carefree lifestyle in a thatched hut?
Day 1
Arrival in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Meet & Greet on arrival at the airport and transfer to the
Hotel Gran Sula for an overnight stay. An introduction to your tour
followed by dinner in a typical restaurant. (D)
Day 2
Mayan Adventure
Early transfer by road to Copán with stops at the village of
La Entrada for a brief visit to the market. En route learn about
Mayan trade routes, social and political organization, and theories
on their mysterious demise. From La Entrada enjoy the beautiful
countryside as you travel on to the picturesque village of
Copán Ruinas. Check in at the lovely Hotel Marina Copán.
for a 2 night stay. Afternoon visit the local museum and explore the town. (B)
Day 3
More Mayan Mysteries
After breakfast enjoy the legendary Archaeological Park of Copán, one of the most outstanding
sites of the Mayan World. The park consists of two main sites, the ruins and the sepulchres.
Enjoy the impressive 63 step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and the masterfully carved steleas.
A break for lunch followed by a visit to Las Sepulturas. Another overnight
at the Hotel Marina Copán. (B)
Day 4
The Caribbean Coast
This morning you will be driven through magnificent landscapes to
Lake Yojoa and then continue to the Caribbean coast of Honduras. A visit
will be made to the Lancetilla Botanical Gardens.
which were founded over 70 years ago as an experimental botanical site
by the United Fruit Company. Here you will find hardwood, medicinal
and ornamental plants as well as tropical fruit trees
from all over the world.
You will see how the bamboo forest
absorbs some 90% of the daylight, admire the long rows of majestic
Royal Palms or try exotic fruits fresh from the tree. An Orchid Garden and
a Natural Reserve with it's beautiful 1,200 hectare virgin tropical rainforest with 240 species of birds are also part of the
Park. In the afternoon transfer to a beach Hotel close to a
Garifuna community. Enjoy the afro-caribbean spirit and the endless sandy
beach of this idyllic place. Overnight in Tela. (B)
Day 5
Nature and Wildlife
In the morning leave by boat to explore the
impressive rock formations of Punta Sal.
Visit the sheltered little bays, well hidden among the rocks,
with palm-fringed beaches and blue lagoons. Listen to the Howler Monkeys living in
the forest behind the natural beaches. Swim and snorkel in
the crystal clear water exploring
the interesting marine life as the world's second largest
Coral Reef comes close to shore at
Punta Sal. (B,L)
Day 6
South to the Isthmus
After breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport to catch the
flight to Panamá City. Meet and greet at Tocumen International Airport on
arrival and transfer to the Hotel Costa del Sol for a
two night stay. (B)
Day 7
Panama City
Today a full day city tour awaits you. Visiting the ruins of Old Panamá,
and the "casco viejo" with its colonial city Mi Pueblito, a
replica of a small rural town. Lunch is at a typical restaurant before
continuing in the afternoon to the Panamá Canal Area and a visit to the
Miraflores Locks to watch the ships transiting the canal. (B,L)
Day 8
Dolphin Island Lodge, San Blas Islands
Early transfer to Paitilla National Airport for the 50 minute flight to one
of the islands in the San Blas archipielago, located along the northeastern
coast of Panama, in the Caribbean Sea. These islands are the home of
the Kuna Indians who are determined to protect their unique culture.
Transfer by motorized dugout canoe to the island hotel. After settling in,
a breakfast will be waiting.
This will be followed by a tour of the neighbouring island community to observe the indian culture.
In the afternoon you may enjoy a swim, snorkle, or interact with this indigenous
group. Lunch and dinner will feature delicious San Blas sea food.
Overnight stay in a rustic but comfortable traditional, Kuna-style hut
with cozy beds and shared baths owned by a Kuna family (non-Kunas are not
allowed to own land). (B,L,D)
Day 9
San Blas Islands
This morning take another boat trip to the nearby island of
Ailigandi, walk along the narrow streets of the town and buy colourful molas
for which the Kunas are world famous. After a delicious lunch it is time to
relax, swim or snorkel. Enjoy wholesome food, freshly prepared and laze in a hammock contemplating
the many different cultures and customs you have experienced on this wonderful tour. (B,L,D)
Day 10
Two Oceans: Atlantic to Pacific!
Early breakfast will be served before flying back to Panama City where you will connect with a flight to the idylllic Pearl Islands for a 3 day / 2 night stay at the ALL-INCLUSIVE Contadora Island Resort. All meals, all domestic drinks and all
non- motorised sports and activities are included. The fifth-largest of the Pearl Islands, which were discovered by Balboa in
1514, Contadora is located in the Pacific Ocean about 50 miles from Panama
City.
Here, in the 220 islands of the Pearl island group, the Spaniards
found the famed, 31-carat pearl known as "La Peregrina" that was given to
the Queen of Spain. Contadora Island features a dive shop, a 9-hole
golf course and a duty-free store and boasts 13 beaches. You
can take excursions to nearby islands, most of which are uninhabited. Just across the
way is Pacheca Island, roosting spot for magnificent frigate birds and an
excellent spot for birdwatching.
Day 12
Back to Panama City
All day to relax at Contadora before a late afternoon flight back to
Panama City. Transfer to the Hotel Costa del Sol for your
final night stay. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner at a typical
restaurant with folkloric dances. (B,L,D)
Day 13
Departure
After breakfast transfer to International Airport for homebound flights. (B)
