Colonial Treasures & Caribbean Coast Adventure Tour

Daily from Guatemala city, 2 passengers minimum


Day 1: Meet & Greet on arrival at the Guatemala City airport and short transportation to overnight hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast transfer to Antigua Guatemala, Monument of the Americas, the earlier colonial capital of Central America, founded in 1543 and partially destroyed by the 1773 earthquake. Visit the historic highlights of this beautiful colonial city. Overnight in Antigua Guatemala.
Day 3: After breakfast, departure toward the inner highlands. Arrival to Chichicastenango and visit to the famous open air market (held every Thursday and Sunday), where colorful native handicrafts of the region are for sale. Enter the 400 year old church of Santo Tomas, where catholic and pagan rites take place in a mystical atmosphere. In the afternoon we will leave Chichicastenango and continue toward Lake Atitlan, to admire one of the most beautiful scenarios in the world. Overnight in Panajachel.
Day 4: Early in the morning we will take a boat ride to the Tzutuhil town of Santiago Atitlan. This small towm still keeps the Mayan traditions and culture. We will visit   the market where you will enjoy some of the varited tropical fruit and all sales are made exclusively by Mayan women. Visit the town's church and return to Panajachel by boat. In the afternoon continue toward Quetzaltenango. On the   visit the famous church of San Andres Xecul. Overnight in Quetzaltenango.
Day 5: Today we will visit the indigenous towns of Almolonga and Zunil very famous for the its vegetables and flowers. Before we leave we will bathe in the hot springs (45 °C) of Fuentes Georginas a natural bath in a gorgeous atmosphere. We continue on the Pacific side to Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa passing through a big coffee and sugar cane plantations. Overnight in Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa.
Day 6: Departure from Santa Lucia driving down through the Motagua valley towards Honduras. En route we will pass through the states of El Progreso and Zacapa in Guatemala. We will visit the small but very interesting museum of the Cotzumalguapa Culture and a short stop in Rio Hondo to stretch and to purchase refreshments. After customs formalities transfer to the magnificent Mayan site of Copán located only 14 km from the border. Overnight in Copán.
Day 7: Today we will visit the legendary Archaeological Park of Copán which consists of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchres. Enjoy the impressive 63 step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and the masterfully carved steleas. In the afternoon we will visit Las Sepulturas, a residential and burial site of the noble Mayan. Overnight in Copan.
Day 8: Driving through one of the most fascinating landscapes of Honduras today we will reach the Yojoa Lake a natural lake surrounded by impressive mountains, including Santa Barbara Mountain. We will board a launch and cross the lake to its western shore. In the afternoon leisure time to enjoy the pool in your hotel. Overnight in a nearby Hotel.
Day 9: Early in the morning we will take a walk for birdwatching. The Yojoa Lake attracts the greatest concentration of birds in the country. About 450 of 700 species registered in Honduras live around this lake. Then we will visit Pulhapanzak waterfall (the most impressive one in the country!) before continuing to the Caribbean coast. There we visit the Lancetilla Botanical Gardens with it's impressive collection of trees and plants from all over the world. In the afternoon transfer to a beach Hotel close to the Garifuna community of Tornabe. Leisure time to enjoy the Afro-Caribbean spirit and the endless sandy beach of this delightful place. Overnight in Tela.
Day 10: Early in the morning we leave by boat to explore the rock formations of the Punta Sal National Park, the first marine park opened on the mainland. Visiting sheltered bays well hidden among the rocks, we'll enjoy a tropical lunch and the exuberance of the woodlands. We can also swim and snorkel experiencing the marine life ofthe world's second largest coral reef, located very close to the shore at Punta Sal. Return to Tornabé and free time to relax on the white, sandy beach in front of our hotel. Overnight in Tela.
Day 11: Today we end our experiences in two beautiful Central American countries and drive towards San Pedro Sula in time to connect with your international departure flights.
