Saba, Dutch Caribbean

Scout's Place Hotel, Restaurant, Dive Shop

Saba is a beautiful five square mile island in the Northeastern Caribbean, deservedly known as "The Queen of the Caribbean".  Surrounded by the better known islands of St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Anquilla, this little gem often gets overlooked by travellers.

Saba is for those seeking the "Alternative Caribbean" and the adventure begins as soon as you see the airport runway.....the shortest international runway in the Western Hemisphere... surrounded by sheer cliffs...Scuba Divers will learn a new meaning for the words "drop off"...

But don't panic, there hasn't been a single accident in 30 years!

Saba has a rich, tropical, natural, beauty. At 2,864 feet above sea level, a dense rain forest often peeks out from a light, cool cloud of moisture.

Cool trade winds keep the mosquitoes away while the tropical flowers dazzle your senses and you begin to rediscover your peace of mind.

Scout's Place is an old established hotel constructed in the typical Saba Island style of white clapboard and red roofs. Every one of the 14 rooms has a spectacular ocean view.

All rooms include a private bathroom with shower and balcony. Many of them have cable TV, a refrigerator and a fan.

The hotel's private "pool with a view" is there for your use and relaxation.

Divers, tourists and locals meet at the bar. In the the restaurant you can enjoy tradiional and international cuisine.

Relish the incredible Caribbean sunsets whle having a drink on the terrace.

Saba's beauty extends below the waterline into an exciting marine environment rich in corals and active with fish life. A busy population of colorful tropical fish as well as large groupers and jacks live around Saba. Lava tunnels and hot springs remind divers of the dramatic volcanic beginnings of the island.

The small leeward side hosts gentle, medium depth, spur and groove formations. Along the edge of Saba's sheer wall dives, divers can sight turtles and rays of all shapes and sizes. Since the island is so small, dive boats can reach all sites within minutes.

Saba Divers also offers NITROX diving and education on demand! This can make your dives even safer and more enjoyable.

Diving on the island of Saba is authorized under the protection of the Saba Marine Parks.

You will be in the extremey capable and very friendly hands of the Owner Managers of Scouts Place & Saba Divers: Wolfgang Tooten and Barbara Schäfer.

Saba Divers has an endless assortment of new equipment - two compressors, DAN oxygen equipment, and in addition to many dive tanks with INT attachments, there are also DIN adapters available.
