DAY 1 - Wednesday - ARRIVAL IN GUATEMALA
"Meet and Greet"
on arrival in Guatemala City and transfer to your overnight hotel. (4*).
DAY 2 - Thursday - CHICHICASTENANGO
In the morning leave for the pretty village of Chichicastenango
sitting on top of a hill, the steep cobbled streets winding up to the main
square. Today is Market Day so, on arrival, there will be a
visit to the colourful open-air market and the Church of Santo Tomas where
Indians seek favours from both Christian and Mayan Gods. The afternoon
is at leisure. Overnight at the charming Mayan Inn. (4*). (B)
DAY 3 - Friday- LAKE ATITLAN
After breakfast, depart for Solola, to visit the Indian market before
continuing to the most beautiful lake in the world - Lake
Atitlan - surrounded by three volcanoes and famous for its spectacular sunsets.
Multi-coloured Indian
settlements are to be found on the lake shore. Overnight accommodations
at the colonial-style Hotel Atitlan. All rooms have a balcony or patio
and enjoy wonderful lake views. (4*) (B)
DAY 4 - Saturday -ANTIQUA
After breakfast join a launch excursion to the lakeside village of
Santiago Atitlan. Next depart for picturesque Antigua with its cobbled
streets and old colonial buildings, stopping en route at the site of
Iximche. Overnight at the beautiful Casa Santo Domingo, built amidst the
ruins of an ancient monastery. (5*) (B)
DAY 5 - Sunday - ANTIGUA/GUATEMALA CITY
Visit the most interesting sites: churches, convents, monasteries and
other colonial buildings. After lunch return to Guatemala City.

DAY 6 - Monday - RIO HONDO
You will be picked up from your hotel very early today for your trip to
the impressive Mayan site of Copan in Honduras. At the
border your guide will handle the required Custom and Immigration
formalities. After a guided tour, late afternoon
transfer to the Rio Hondo for an overnight stay at the Hotel Longarone
which has two swimming pools and rooms have modern facilities and
amenities. (3*) (B)
DAY 7 - Tuesday - LAKE IZABAL
Depart for the Quirigua archeological site which is at the end of a road
that runs through a working banana plantation. The site itself has many
stela which are covered by thatched pavilions. Travel along scenic
roads to the tropical jungle area of lovely Lake Izabal for an overnight
stay in wooden cabins at the Hotel Catamaran on a private island in the
middle of Lake Izabal. Amenities include: Swimming Pool and Tennis Courts. (3*) (B)
DAY 8 - Wednesday - PUERTO BARRIOS
Today you will
continue to Puerto Barrios situated on the Caribbean Coast on the Bay of
Amatique for a two night stay at the Cayos Del Diablo Hotel where
you can enjoy lakeside or poolside swimming or a hike through a Nature
Reserve.
Optional: Instead of
travelling by road your guide will help
you to negotiate with a local captain so that you can do the trip by
boat.
The boat excursion will call at the Fort San Felipé before
sailing down the Rio Dulce which flows through a series of canyons, past
the Chocon Machacas Reserve where Manatees are protected, to the
Caribbean Coast. (4*) (B)
DAY 10 - Friday - BACK TO BELIZE
Afternoon ferry to Southern Belize and a short flight to Dangriga for
an overnight stay on the coast. (B,D).
DAY 11 - Saturday - THE BELIZE BARRIER REEF
After breakfast a
boat will be waiting to whisk you to one of the most idyllic tropical
islands of Belize, Mayan Island,
Tobacco Caye or
Southwater Caye, on the Southern Belize Barrier Reef.
4 night stay in Belizean-style island accommodation situated on a
beautiful beach overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Southern
Barrier Reef. The islands all fall within the Southwater Caye Marine
Reserve which has been designated a World Heritage Site.
A cook will
prepare three delicious meals every day including fresh seafood, fresh
fruit and home baking, served family-style. (Extra nights easily arranged).
SCUBA DIVERS : 2 boat dives each day
for 3 days including tanks, weights & belts. (B,L,D daily)
DAY 15 - Wednesday - DEPARTURE
Transfer back to the Airport for your return
flights.
